About this deal

During a scene at a circus the announcer presents "The Mighty Donovan". "The Mighty O'Donovan" is Donovan "Red" Grant's father, referenced in From Russia, with Love. Higson: "The smell and noise and confusion of a hallway full of schoolboys can be quite awful at twenty past seven in the morning." The Bond girl in this book is Wilder Lawless, a girl who owns a horse called Martini. This girl helps James and 'Red' Kelly (named on account of his red hair) figure out why Kelly's cousin was killed and she helps them to defeat Lord Hellebore. In this book James learns to drive, taught by his Uncle Max, who, while he is away at Lord Hellebore's castle sadly dies. His Aunt Charmain who thinks James and Kelly are away on a camping trip tells James this as he wakes up from his coma. A hellebore is a poisonous plant often thought to resemble a rose, making a suitable name for the handsome but evil Lord Hellebore. After studying at the University of East Anglia, Charlie formed a band, The Higsons. He then became a decorator before turning to the world of television and going into partnership with his friend Paul Whitehouse. Their successes included 'Saturday Live', the 'Harry Enfield Television Programme', 'The Smell of Reeves and Mortimer', 'Shooting Stars', 'Randall and Hopkirk, Deceased', the film 'Suite 16', 'Swiss Toni' and 'The Fast Show'.

Silverfin Summary | SuperSummary

On Loch SilverFin in Scotland, a bad man lives in a castle with his son. James Bond and his new friend Red Kelly go to the castle. They must find Red's missing cousin, Alfie. But what do they find in the castle? Do they find Alfie, or is it too late? o Selection process: The Best, Notable, and Recommended 2008. (2009). Teacher Librarian, 36(4), 8-21. As a graphic novel I find this an excellent drawn comic, visually stunning on occasion. The story is of course a little less complete but does catch the essence of Higsons novel. The only fault I can find in the comic and story is that James Bond is running with a certain number during the sporting event that is way to obvious and felt a bit too much. But each his/her own. The U.S. edition of the book was edited to remove descriptions that were considered too racy for young readers. One such example includes a description of Wilder Lawless's legs during a tussle between herself and Bond.He worked as producer, writer, director and occasional guest star on Randall & Hopkirk (Deceased) from 2000 to 2001. Subsequent television work has included writing and starring in BBC Three's Fast Show spin-off sitcom Swiss Toni. He is currently starring in Tittybangbang series 3 on BBC Three and has appeared as a panellist on QI. A graphic novel adaptation of SilverFin written by Charlie Higson and illustrated by artist Kev Walker was released by Puffin Books in the UK on 2 October 2008 [2] and by Disney Hyperion in the U.S. on 18 May 2010. OK, I am positive that if my uncle did not gift me this novel through the post, I would have surely not read it. Any book about James Bond as a child would not have placed an interesting thought in my mind. Silverfin is a young adult spy novel by Charlie Higson based on Ian Fleming's famous character James Bond. The book, which follows James Bond as a teenager in the 1930s, inspired a series of graphic novel adaptations, video games, and a travel guide. Silverfin, the first book in the series, is followed by Blood Fever, Double or Die, Hurricane Gold, and By Royal Command. There are also two supplementary books: a travel guide, The Young Bond Rough Guide to London, and Danger Society: The Young Bond Dossier, essentially a guidebook to the world of Young Bond. My favorite quote from this book is the final quote as it teaches you a moral, the quote and moral is "Don't ever be a spy" The reason I admire this quote is because at around the middle of the novel, Bond's uncle was explaining how he was beaten and tortured by German Soldiers then said. "Don't ever be a spy". So once James Bond had experienced his bit of being a spy he agreed with his uncle and it wrapped up the novel nicely.

Silverfin by Charlie Higson: Summary and reviews - BookBrowse

It is, however, when James is in Scotland for the rest of book, at the remote home of his Aunt Charmian and Uncle Max, that his first great adventure, and mystery to solve, truly takes shape. A local Laird, in his ominous castle nearby, is conducting horrific scientific experiments that prove he is very mad indeed and a threat to society who must be defeated. Before this excitement is over, James has a date with some killer eels. (hehe jadi curhat) A special signed limited edition hardcover was released exclusively at Waterstone's Bookstores in the UK on October 6, 2005.
