Even I found myself re-reading some sections five times to understand what was being said. I found the sections to loop into each other, however, where the understanding of certain parts were clearly understood in later sections. Don’t get caught in understanding everything immediately because you may figure it out later reading the rest of the book. You will always get answers to your questions insofar as you have the sensory apparatus to notice the responses. And rarely will the verbal or conscious part of the response be relevant."

Clouston, W. A. (1890). "The Story of 'The Frog Prince': Breton Variant, and Some Analogues". Folklore. 1 (4): 493–506. doi: 10.1080/0015587X.1890.9720033. JSTOR 1253634. So, we've discussed the content of NLP. The question now is: does it work? As I've now alluded to more than once, the authors don't offer much in the way of objective evidence. Support is provided in the form of stage demonstrations, wherein willing participants are forcefully pushed towards whatever outcome the instructors desire. As stated in the preface, this might have been compelling in the original context, but here, even if instructive, it's rather unconvincing. There was an intriguing sentence on matching where they discussed representational systems and said that to establish good rapport one merely had to match the predicated words of the other person's representational system. But if you want to alienate the other person you could deliberately mismatch the predicates. This skill could be very useful in situation where one would not want to converse like on an airplane. Oda und der Schlange" (Oda and the Snake) (Ludwig Bechstein, Germany) – a variant where a serpent replaces the frog [20] Ostmeier, Dorothee (2014). "Frogs and Salamanders as Agents of Romanticisms". MLN. 129 (3): 670–687. doi: 10.1353/mln.2014.0049. JSTOR 24463546. S2CID 161647714.

Establish communication with the part creating the unwanted behavior or response. Ask if it would be willing to communicate consciously. This communication might be a sensation somewhere in their/your body, a picture, voice or sound. When you get a signal, first thank the part for responding. When we have fought against particular behaviors, they can feel alienated, so it’s useful to be polite. The Frog Prince". The first English translation of the above tale. Edgar Taylor, the translator, not only changed the title, but altered the ending in a substantial and interesting manner. [18]

Events at Brown University (2008), Rhode Island State Council on the Arts. Accessed March 26, 2017.The last section of Frogs Into Princes gives an exact formula for reframing. The neuro-linguistic technique of reframing involves changing the way you see an event to change its meaning. I have found it to be one of the greatest techniques to overcome fear and build unstoppable confidence for myself and others I’ve helped. I feel reframing is a must-have technique for any person who is interested in getting past problems and obtaining the most out of life. The list of applications for every technique in the three sections are endless. A chamber opera for children based upon The Frog Prince, written by Jacob A. Greenberg for Brown Opera Productions and the Providence Athenaeum, was performed in 2008. [27] The book is divided into three main sections, which were presented on three separate days at the seminar: From this perspective, it makes it difficult for me to be lost on the connection between frogs and princes. While some are dutifully croaking archaic thoughts that has been long overdue for an overhaul, a select few have arisen to the challenge of the times we are in by injecting new thinking into old wisdom and those are the Princes of today's Human Achievement world.

Ask for help from their/your creative part to create three alternative ways to get the intended outcome. Dench, Geoff (1994). The Frog, the Prince & the Problem of Men. Neanderthal Books. ISBN 978-0-9523529-0-7. We are all influenced inconcsciouly by myriads of body language cues and these can be used to your advantage.Bandler and Grinder are the Fathers of Neuro-Linguistic Programming and they make no mistake about demystifying the whole science of excellence and human achievement. This book is a little hard to get into because it is essentially a transcript of a Seminar that Richard and John put on to discuss their views on Neuro-Linguistic Programming to other therapists... These are two of the founders of NLP and it was written in 1979, a time when NLP was trying to establish itself in the therapeutic community. This is readily apparent by the stabs the authors make at existing paradigms. The book does not mention which author is talking so it is difficult to get a grasp of who`s viewpoints are whoms, so it is assumed that both authors are in agreement with the concepts presented. If you get out of the mindset of expecting the concept of NLP being presented in an organized easy to understand manner, then one can glean some interesting information and pearls from this book that I will share. Note that throughout, the therapist has no idea what the "bad thing" is, nor what the "good resource" is - he or she simply gives content-agnostic process instructions. This approach doesn't really resonate with me personally, but I can imagine it might work for some. Assuming that this aspect of self has a positive intention can create rapport and therefore makes it more willing to cooperate.

How does it make you feel? Are you likely to help a second time? Our unconscious parts feel the same. Here they are doing the best they can to achieve something for you. Is there thanks or even appreciation? We might have a long history of fighting and shaming this response. Frogs Into Princes is a transcript from a live seminar conducted by the Bandler and Grinder. Because the seminar was for therapists, most of the techniques’ applications are discussed in a therapist-patient scenario. Therapists and psychologists will find the applications of the techniques extremely useful for improving therapeutic communication with patients. When we are young, we try out different behaviors and some of them work. We keep the ones that work, even when times change and those responses may not be the most useful ones. Throwing a tantrum at 4 might get us what we want, at 44 it probably won’t work so well. The Frog Prince" was enacted by Achim ( Joachim Kaps) and Kunibert ( Hans-Joachim Leschnitz) in a 1988 episode of Brummkreisel. [26]
